The title of 'Oldest Woman in the World' will now be given to Katerina Karnarou from Krestena in the Peloponnese, who is 112 years old. According to all official documents and electronic records, Mrs. Karnarou was born on July 25, 1905. Katerina will be turning 113 years old this summer.


According to news reports, her relatives are now sending all her documents to the Guinness Book of Records.


On Saturday, the world’s oldest person, Nabi Tajima, a 117-year-old Japanese woman died in the south of Japan, which now leaves Ekaterini Karnarou as the eldest woman alive.


"I've been through sad times, my husband died, my children died at a young age. Luckily, I had great in-laws. My son was in the navy, he was a brigade general. He came to Athens and bought a house. However, he died young and didn't get to enjoy."
