The surprise hit finished in 4th place among the Top 4 highest grossing films on Monday, which was originally a one night only and due to high demand a second showing will be on March 28. “Man of God” ranked behind “Batman,” “Jujustu Kaisen 0,” and “Uncharted” on Monday, making the film centered on the life of St. Nektarios an unexpected hit in the US.

The film, which is a great choice during the Orthodox Easter Lent, features Hollywood star Mickey Rourke (in a small scene) alongside acclaimed Greek actor Aris Servetalis and Russian actor Alexander Petrov. Yelena Popovic directed, wrote, and produced the spiritual film.
“Man of God” was filmed in Greece, the movie depicts the life of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, who endured unjust hatred and was persecuted by the religious establishment while preaching the word of God. “Man of God” was a smash hit for 4 weeks straight in Greece and Cyprus, where viewers rushed to cinemas to see the film.
